Banyule City Council is hiring a Youth Engagement Officer to play a key role in the Youth Services team.
The Youth and Family Services department at Banyule City Council sits within the Community Programs directorate. It provides a range of services to children, families, young people and community groups within the municipality. These services promote and support health, wellbeing and education and strive to build a connected and safe community.
About the role:
- Lead the delivery of Banyule’s Youth Summit and Summit Report Card
- Play a pivotal role in the planning, development and implementation of a range of opportunities for young people in the City of Banyule
- Under the direction of the Youth Services Coordinator you will facilitate the strategic planning, provision and delivery of all aspects of high-quality youth programs, activities and events for young people aged 10-25 years and their families focusing on ensuring young peoples voices are heard and actioned.
- Services will be consistent with council’s youth services strategic plans, policies, philosophies and service agreements
The preferred days of work are Monday and Thursday and a 3rd day of successful applicant's choice.
Skills, experience and certificates:
- Tertiary qualifications in youth work, social work or related discipline and/or significant relevant experience.
- Proven experience, knowledge and understanding of working with young people in a variety of program settings
- Practical working knowledge and understanding of Youth Work principles and practice
- Well-developed knowledge in the use of social media, online applications and IT systems
- Extensive knowledge of professional conduct required of youth workers i.e. confidentiality, respectful engagement, accurate record keeping, punctuality
